Dear Residents, Welcome to the Police Update for the last week. The message includes personal fraud (Scams), burglaries, catalytic converter and vehicle thefts reported between the 9th July 2026 to 16th July 2026. The report also includes information on arrests in the Borough. The Police Reference Number (PR) with each of the reports is shown in brackets. Meet the Beat in Banstead There will be an opportunity to Meet the Beat at Banstead Library, The Horseshoe, Bolters Lane, Banstead, SM7 2AW at 11:00am on 7th August 2026.
Car Crime This week there has been 1 report of a suspected theft from car and 0 reports of attempts to gain access to vehicles. 1 report of license plates being stolen. Arrests. There were 52 arrests in the period July 9th 2026 to July 15th 2026: Domestic Incident/Violent Domestic Abuse 12, Rape/Sexual Offence 3, Drugs 3, Drunk/Drug Charge 2, Prescribed Limit 2, Violent Crime in a Public Place 1, Violent Crime other 1, Harassment/Stalking 5, Crime Public Order 3, Criminal Damage 2, Child Protection 1, Master Occurrence 6*, Theft 3, Vehicle Crime 1, Absconder/Wanted 1, Breach of Bail/Custody 1, Breach Warrant 1, None of these 3. Assault on Police 1. *A Master Occurrence is used when recording an arrest where a number of offences are recorded for one incident.
Personal Fraud (Scams) in the Borough. Records show that there have been 6 reports of Personal Fraud in the Borough during the last week. These include reports of Sextortion and an attempted car purchase fraud, where suspects tampered with the engine to reduce the price of the vehicle.
Burglaries North 12/07/2026 Between 09:00 to 23:30. The Horseshoe, Banstead. Residential Burglary. Method of Entry – Entry gained through a ground floor bathroom window. Stolen: Jewellery. (PR 45260083598) 14/07/2026 Between 04:35 to 04:50. Fir Tree Road, Banstead. Attempted Residential Burglary and theft from a Motor Vehicle. Method of Entry – Attempted forced entry through the front door of the property. This followed a theft from a motor vehicle parked next to the property. Stolen: Nothing taken from the property, keys and other items taken from the car.. (PR 45260084263)
